Our Equipment

Commercial Printing

From simple carbonless business forms to eye-catching mail pieces – we can help you make your business a smooth success. We offer in-house prepress, to include complete typesetting, scanning, image setting (computer to plate) & plate processors. This allows us to take your project from the idea stage to finished material without involving outside designers, keeping costs to a minimum.

Your material would be produced on Heidelberg printing equipment, which includes letterpress, small offset and multi-colored large offset presses. Finished work can be processed through computer-auto cutters, folders, a multi-head drill, various punches and auto binding. Inspection is maintained at each step with quality assurance concern for corporate identity.

We work closely with you to assure proper standards are kept regarding color, location, size and consistency. This offers conformity of printed material for multiple locations of one company.

Heck’s can supply plain or printed multi-color labels, single, fanfold, and roll labels to our customers. We also offer continuous forms (carbonless), laser-safe thermography and offset stationery as well as business card printing – all in brilliant and eye-catching multi-colors.

Offset Printing

Heck's offers offset, sheetfed printing. This means that your layout is lasered into a special metal plate - one plate for each color.

These plates are then mounted to a round cylinder on a commercial press. As the cylinder turns, ink is deposited on the plate where it sticks to the lasered parts. The inked plate comes into contact with another cylinder - this one covered with a rubber mat (called a "blanket") and the ink offsets onto it. This is why it is called "offset" printing. The rubber blanket cylinder then comes in contact with the paper going through the press... and your layout is printed onto the paper!

The press runs quite quickly and must be watched carefully to assure Hecks quality.

Hecks has one, two and four color presses. The four color press prints "CMYK" - Cyan (C, aka blue), Magenta(M, aka pink), Yellow (Y) and Black (K). Images in full color such as photographs can be printed with a combination of only these four colors.

Digital Printing

Digital Printing is an economical way to print smaller jobs and a quick way to get rush jobs done.

Hecks has state-of-the-art digital machines that can print in black and white as well as full color.

These machines can still take a printed piece-on-glass and duplicate it, but they can also act as high-quality color presses by sending your layout to it as you would a normal printer.

We have a complete Bindery Department to follow up the job if you would require folding, padding, wire-o binding, etc.

Mailing

Hecks began as a mail house - so we know how it's done and have been doing it right for over 70 years. There are many options available to you when mailing, and one of our salespersons would be glad to discuss the best way to get your word out. Pre-sorted mail is a great way to save money on postage.

What are you mailing? Letter, postcard, self-mailer, etc...

Do you need it printed?  Hecks would be glad to give you a printing quote, too!

What size?

What is the quantity?Do you have a list? If you don't have a list and don't know a quantity, we can purchase a list for you based on what demographics and area you give us - and we can give you counts for free.

How do you want it mailed? First-Class Mail is more expensive, but you get back returns and it's traditionally faster. Standard Bulk Mail is much more economically priced and is the most common choice. Saturation Mail is even a better rate and you flood an entire area - but you have to print more pieces.

Processing - NCOA, Remove duplicate addresses? Pre-sorted mail lists need be run through the USPS's National Change of Address system. We can also lean-up your mail list by removing duplicated addresses so that one address (or even one contact name) only gets one piece.

Rejected addresses - What do you want done with them? If you have furnished hecks a list, there are always address that the USPS program we use to process the mail list say are "not valid, not mailable". We can just mail the "good" addresses and ignore this list, email this list back to you so that you can correct your database for future mailings, or you can choose to have Hecks provide you with a quote to mail these anyway at the regular first-class stamp rate.
